Avatr is a premium EV brand that three giant Chinese companies (Changan Auto, Huawei, CATL) co-founded in 2022. Changan Auto manufactures the Avatr-branded fully electric vehicles. Huawei provides smart car technologies, ADAS systems, and mobility services. The third firm, the world&#8217;s biggest lithium-ion battery cell manufacturer CATL supplies the high-voltage battery packs for the Avatr cars. CATL is also the second largest shareholder with a 17 percent stake. Changan Auto holds around 40% of this new EV-maker. 
Premium brand&#8217;s first vehicle&#8217;s called Avatr 11, designed by famous American designer Matthew M. Williams. It uses a special 750-volt high voltage electrical architecture. Thanks to this novel system, Avatr 11 supports up to 240 kW ultra-fast DC charging speeds. Its huge 116.79-kWh battery pack can be charged from 30 percent to 80 percent in 25 minutes. 
Avatr 11 has officially entered production in December 2022, first deliveries made a few weeks later. Mass production of the vehicle takes place at Changan Auto&#8217;s manufacturing plant in Chongqing.

Avatr&#8217;s premium SUV comes equipped with Huawei&#8217;s HarmonyOS operating system and HiCar autonomous drive technology, including processing units, HD cameras, radar sensor, LiDARs, etc. Avatr aims to offer not only a luxurious, comfortable, good-looking sports utility vehicle but also provide its customers with the latest automotive technologies. At first, some features were performing poorly but Avatr has been releasing software upgrades via OTA and slowly getting there to satisfy its drivers. It&#8217;s one of the most successful Chinese brands when it comes to improving the car firmware with OTA updates. 
Avatr 11&#8217;s most unique feature is a LED notification area placed between the hood and the windshield. This display functions as a welcoming signage that shows up when you lock/unlock your vehicle. 
Electric SUV is designed as a coupe, which means there isn&#8217;t enough space to place a properly sized rear window into the car. Instead, Avatr put a digital rear view mirror right away, eliminating any visibility complaints.

Latest version of the Europe&#8217;s top selling budget electric SUV unveiled. 2022 MG ZS EV launched for European market in November 2021. It has longer range at 440 km according to WLTP cycle, thanks to a much bigger 72.6 kWh battery pack. MG will also offers a standard range option with 320 kilometers of range at a lower price level.

Mini Electric is British carmaker’s first all-electric vehicle launched in 2020. It is a conventional Mini Hatch that swapped the engine for an electric motor and a set of battery cells. In the middle of the dashboard, you get a circular area where the 8.8-inch infotainment display located. Sat-nav is standard, because you will always need a system that tells you where the nearest charging station is. It’s not as smooth or as functional as the systems you find in Tesla Model 3 or Honda e, but it has a digital gauge cluster which is 5-inches in diameters and offers a few useful features. Both infotainment and gauge cluster displays are standard as of 2021/2022 model year.
If you switch to ‘Green+’ mode, the car changes its power delivery, and also turns off heating and heated seats. You need to choose between speed, comfort, and maximum range according to your priority.

Mercedes EQA is a mid-range electric SUV, unveiled in 2021 and launched on the market in a few weeks. It is based on gas-powered SUV Mercedes GLA, same chassis, same sizes and almost the same exterior &amp; interior design. German carmaker only took the internal combustion engine out and replaced it with electric motors and battery system.
EQA has both AWD and FWD options. Dual motor EQA 4MATIC can produce 292 HP and 520 Nm torque. It takes 6.0 seconds to get from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) with the fastest version. All versions provide 60 kWh battery capacity. EQA can travel up to 432 kilometers when fully charged. Compact electric SUV works with 100 kW DC plugs, charging from 10% to 80% is around 30 minutes.
Mercedes-Benz has been producing the EQA both in Germany and China. It is the cheapest electric Mercedes on market. Pricing starts at €47,541 for the front-wheel-drive EQA 250, €53,538 for the EQA 300 4MATIC, and €56,215 for the EQA 350 4MATIC.
<h2>Performance</h2>
Mercedes EQA offered in three forms: the base model front-wheel-drive EQA 250, and AWD dual motor version EQA 300 4MATIC and EQA 350 4MATIC. The base version EQA has 190 HP, 375 Nm torque, 0-100 km/h performance around nine seconds.
All-wheel-drive EQA 300 4MATIC can produce 228 horsepower and 390 Nm torque, whereas the most advanced variant of range EQA 350 4MATIC has 292 horsepower, 520 Nm torque. Acceleration figures from 0 to 100 km/h are 7.7 seconds and 6.0 seconds respectively.
<h2>Design and Features</h2>
Mercedes basically used everything they can from the GLA when making the EQA, interior and exterior designs are very similar. There are only a couple of distinctive differences, such as EQC-style headlights, full length taillights shaped like a lightbar, and the aero-efficient front grille along with the new wheels that helps reduce drag and increase range.
German car manufacturer put the battery pack on top of the existing chassis of the GLA and that raises the floor quite a bit. This can cause passengers to feel uncomfortable, but at least the cabin height is decent enough to give occupants more room up high. Volvo XC40 Recharge did a better job at preserving the comfort of the back seat while transforming an existing vehicle to electric.
There are tons of EQ badges all around the interior, Mercedes constantly reminds you that EQA is an electric SUV. Design and materials all look and feel premium, as they should. Two 10.25-inch displays create a digital cockpit around the driver. Mercedes’s MBUX user interface still lags on some occasions, but you can always use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for more functionality.
There is no trunk capacity on the front as you would expect. Because of the electric motor sitting on the rear axle, regular truck capacity is not very good either. Compact SUV provides great comfort to its driver and passenger, but back seats are not that comfortable and cargo space is very limited. EQA is the direct rival of the Tesla Model Y. Unfortunately, it not only lacks the range and speed, but also has less space and offers less practicality than the Tesla SUV.
<h2>Range and Charging</h2>
Both FWD and AWD EQAs all have the same 66.5 kWh battery pack. EQA 250 and EQA 300 4MATIC offer 426 kilometers of range. EQA 350 has slightly better range estimates around 432 km.
Mercedes EQA supports 100 kW DC charging; it can get from 10 percent charge to 80 percent in 30 minutes. It takes less than 6 hours to fully charge the vehicle when plugged into the wallbox or an AC charger.

The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

🟢Announcing that it will convert diesel mining trucks to electric in 2021 together with #ABB, #Hitachi shared that the first vehicle has been produced.
⛏️The giant truck started to be used in a copper-gold mine in Zambia. It climbs with an electrical connection that feeds the battery, similar to a trolleybus, while going to pick up load. When turning downhill while loaded, it recharges its battery thanks to regenerative braking.
🔋In this way, ABB and Hitachi completed the transformation with a smaller one instead of a megawatt-hour battery. They made this possible thanks to the regenerative braking ability of the huge electric motors seen in the prototype photo.
🔌Mining truck&#8217;s previously had a giant internal combustion engine with 16 cylinders and 2,534 horsepower. It will relatively reduce the impact of mining on the environment by ending diesel consumption and zeroing out emissions after the conversion to electric.

With an energy density of 720 Wh/kg, the lithium metal cell features a lithium and manganese-based mixture on the cathode side, while being a solid electrolyte lithium-metal type solution, eliminating safety issues unlike lithium-ion cells.
Tailan, which completed the second phase that will increase its capacity to 2 GWh at its Chongqing factory by the end of 2023, is also building a massive 10 GWh facility in China’s Anhui province. Mass production of semi-solid-state cells with an energy density of around 400-500 Wh/kg is already underway.
While fully solid-state lithium metal solutions, like those from Tailan, currently seem unlikely to replace lithium-ion cells due to their high cost, they are expected to rapidly decrease in price in the coming years.
Electric vehicle manufacturer <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/feed/hashtag/?keywords=nio&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7181583793969909760" data-attribute-index="1">#NIO</a>, which is beginning to offer a semi-solid-state battery option providing 360 Wh/kg energy density, promises a range of 1,000 km on a single charge with this battery. However, it’s worth noting that the battery alone is more expensive than a mid-range car.
If the Chinese venture succeeds in commercializing this battery promising a density of 720 Wh/kg, its use in the aviation sector will become possible. Another potential application would be military systems.

The Battery Venture to Provide A Range of 2,000 KM on A Single Charge!

Chinese truck and heavy equipment manufacturer #Sany has started delivering its new truck, which can reach a range of 500 km on a single charge.
The truck, named #Jiangshan SE-437, stands out from its competitors with its 437 kWh battery that can be swapped in less than five minutes. Additionally, the truck is equipped with dual charging sockets, providing support for DC charging exceeding 400 kW.
Last year, nearly half of the electric trucks sold in China had swappable batteries. Demand for these trucks, which can be ready to hit the road with a fully charged battery within minutes thanks to new swap stations being set up every week, continues to grow.
Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that SANY Group developed this swappable large battery platform in collaboration with Gotion Inc. a partner of Volkswagen Group.

Hyundai Announced Investing 50.4 Billion Dollars in EV Over Three Years!

🟢IM Motors, a joint venture between SAIC Motor and Alibaba Group announced that the electric fastback L6, which will be unveiled at a technology launch on April 8th, will come with a 130 kWh solid-state battery.
🔌The dual-motor performance model IM L6 will offer a range of over 1,000 kilometers and will also feature an 900V electrical architecture. This will enable it to achieve high DC charging speeds of over 400 kW.

🔋Using a nickel-heavy chemistry on the cathode and its own developed silicon composite material on the anode, the Chinese company has significantly increased energy density and minimized the risk of battery combustion or explosion with solid electrolytes. IM Motors has been able to develop a lighter, longer-range, faster-charging, and safer car.
💰Due to the use of new-generation materials, solid-state solutions are much more expensive than current batteries, which will likely affect the price of the IM L6. The First Car with A Solid-State Battery Is to Come from China!

Swedish bus manufacturer Volvo Buses has unveiled two electric models in its 8900 series, measuring 12.3 and 14.9 meters.
The Volvo 8900 Electric, available with 272/544 HP motor options, can be ordered with different batteries ranging from 360 kWh to 540 kWh. It will hit the roads in Europe in 2025.

In 2023, the company managed to almost triple its sales, primarily through range-extender models, securing a leading position in the market. Li MEGA Achieves a Range of 500 Kilometers in just 10.5 Minutes!

🟢One of the world’s largest lithium-ion battery manufacturers, LG Chem America, Inc. is investing in LFP battery production to compete with its Chinese counterparts.
💰Signing an agreement with Chinese Liyuan New Energy to supply 160,000 tons of LFP cathode materials, the company will pay approximately $1 billion for this order.
⚡While LG’s current batteries use NMC/NCA cathodes, LFP cathodes are gaining market share despite having relatively lower energy density due to their significantly lower cost and overcoming barriers in charging speed and winter performance.
🏭LG announced its collaboration with Chinese Huayou Cobalt last year to establish a facility in Morocco with an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons of LFP cathodes. Already producing LFP cells for energy storage systems, LG’s automotive-focused solutions are set to enter mass production by 2025.

🟢 French manufacturer Renault will unveil the €25,000 #Renault 5 on February 26th and has announced plans to launch another budget-friendly electric car this year.
🚗 Renault CEO Luca de Meo confirmed in an interview with French BFM TV that the crossover-style Renault 4 model will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October.
🔋 Both models are developed on the AmpR Small platform (formerly known as CMF-B EV) and will feature two battery packs with capacities of 40 and 52 kWh. It’s known that the Renault 5, with the larger battery, will offer a range of around 400 km. The Renault 4, while offering a relatively lower range, will come with a taller body.

Even though its platform has not changed, it is certain that the new Taycan is much better than the old one in almost every aspect. While the Turbo S version previously completed the 0-100 km/h acceleration in 2.8 seconds, this time decreases to 2.4 seconds in the renewed Taycan.
The 2024 Porsche Taycan can reach 952 horsepower thanks to the new rear engine. It can reflect this performance on the road for a much longer time with its new generation heat pump thermal management system and inverter. The sports vehicle with 800-volt electric architecture can also charge for five minutes at speeds above 320 kW.
The German manufacturer states that the old generation Taycan was charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 37 minutes at 15 degrees, and that this decreased to 18 minutes with the new Taycan.
The new Taycan, whose small battery option increases from 79 kWh to 89 kWh, and whose Peformance Battery Plus option increases its capacity from 93 to 105 kWh, will hit the roads in Turkey in the spring, simultaneously Europe and the world.
With all these innovations, the starting price increases from 93,000 euros to 105,530 euros. Customers who want to buy the Taycan with 952 HP and a large battery have to pay 217,000 euros.

⚡Man-carrying autonomous drone manufacturer #EHang announced that it will offer the first vehicle of flying flights, called EH216-S, at a price of 2.39 million yuan (~285,000 $).
🔋The two-person drone promises a range of 30 kilometers with a load of 260 kg (people + luggage) and a fully charged battery. The vehicle flies completely autonomously. The drone reaches a speed of 130 km/h. It will start taking orders in China on April 1, 2024.
🟢The flying taxi started in touristic operations in China. It also has a version that can deliver useful cargo to military base areas and carry cargo within the city. Zeekr To Double Sales in 2024 with 870 KM Range 007!

🟢Xiaomi introduced its first car last month and is preparing to start officially mass production in its Beijing factory. The company has been producing test products for a while.
🔋Electric sedan Xiaomi SU7 draws attention with its 800 km range with a 101 kWh battery, 676 HP, 800V electrical architecture that provides a 510 km range with 15 mins of charging, and a drag coefficient of 0.195 Cd.
🏭 Xiaomi will start production in February 2024. Even though it uses Beijing Auto&#8217;s production license, it will carry out production in its factory. Monthly production is expected to exceed 2,000 in March and reach 10,000 in July 2024.

⚡StoreDot is a solid state battery initiative. It has very important investors such as #Volvo, VinFast and BP. The initiative introduced its battery solution in which long thin cells are directly integrated into the chassis.
🟢Although it is a solid state battery initiative, It initially developed was a silicon anode lithium ion cell. The initiative says that the first prototype using the solution called XFC will hit the roads this year.
🚙The initiative increases the energy density above 320 Wh/kg thanks to the battery integrated into the chassis and promises more efficient thermal management with its integrated cooling system. It has a target of full charging in 10 minutes. It was previously announced that the battery could maintain this high charging performance at full capacity even after 1,000 cycles.
🔋Mercedes, Volvo, Polestar, VinFast and electric scooter giant Ola Electric are among the manufacturers developing StoreDot battery-powered cars. Polestar is expected to produce its first prototype in 2025.

⚡EVE Energy is one of the world&#8217;s largest lithium-ion battery manufacturers. The company announced that it will establish a joint company with Aksa Power Generation in Turkey and produce battery modules, cabins, containers and energy storage systems.
💰Details regarding the investment amount and partnership structure have not been shared yet. However, the facility to be established is expected to operate to meet the increasing need for energy storage systems Turkey, especially renewable energy power plants.
🔌Aksa Power Generation, the Turkish partner of the Chinese company, is part of Kazancı Holding. The same holding also has companies that may need batteries, such as Aksa Energy #aksen and Aksa Charge.
🟢LFP cathode cells produced by EVE in China will be used in the battery modules to be produced in Turkey. Therefore, the partnership is expected to be affected by the 30% additional customs duty recently imposed on LFP prismatic/cylindrical cells originating from the Far East. Because, in the facility that the company will establish in Hungary, NMC cathode cylindrical cells will be produced only for electric vehicles.

🔋 e:NS2 will be one of the largest SUVs in its segment with its 68.8 kWh battery, 150 kW engine, and 4,788 mm long body. It was the first vehicle developed by the Japanese manufacturer on the e:N Architecture F platform with its Chinese partner Dongfeng.
💰The electric Honda&#8217;s price and release date are not yet known. It will probably go on sale in Europe under the name e:Ny2. Since they originate from China, neither e:Ny1 nor e:NS2 is expected to be imported to Turkey due to authorized service regulations.
