MG Comet EV is a four-door cheap EV launched first in India. It&#8217;s the rebadged version of the Air EV, which is the latest model launched by China&#8217;s highly-popular budget EV maker Wuling. Both MG and Wuling are part of China&#8217;s one of the largest automotive conglomerates, SAIC Motor. 
Comet EV has a rear-wheel-drive 41-HP electric drivetrain. Mini EV features a 17.3-kWh battery pack that uses CALB&#8217;s prismatic LFP cells. When it&#8217;s fully charged, MG Comet can travel up to 230 kilometers, according to India&#8217;s MIDC test cycle. MG claims Comet EV drivers will spend less on electricity for a month than a pizza to drive around with their small electric vehicle.

Wuling Air EV will be the first compact EV that a Chinese company will sell worldwide. Air EV is taller than the extremely popular Hongguang MINI EV. Unlike almost all the other micro cars, this compact EV will support DC fast charging. 
Wuling has prepared to go international with the Air EV. This model will be the official vehicle of the G20 Summit in Indonesia, thanks to a deal between the Chinese automaker and the Indonesian authority. Recently Wuling started its manufacturing operations in the Asian country, as well. 
Air EV comes with 30/50 kW electric motor options. There will also be two range options; 200 and 300 kilometers. The cheapest version will cost around $5,000. Air EV&#8217;s starting price in Indonesia is around $16,200. Wuling confirmed that it will also start selling Air EV in India and Egypt later this year. Other countries Wuling plans to sell Air EV will be announced in the near future. The compact car is going to be built in both China and Indonesia.

The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

The BYD Seal U Has Been Launched in China with a Price Starting at $18,040

⚡#BYD has revamped its popular electric sedan Han, which sold 220,000 units last year. The 2024 version of the car has been launched in China with a starting price of $25,000.
🟢The 5-meter sedan features a base model with a 150 kW motor, a 60.48 kWh LFP battery, and 110 kW DC charging support. All models come equipped with the new Level 2+ intelligent driving system, DiPilot 100, which has been in development for over 1,000 days. Additionally, the new generation intelligent suspension system, DiSus-C, has been integrated into the 2024 model to enhance Han&#8217;s comfort.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

The 2024 BYD Han Has Officially Been Released | Starting At $25,000

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.
🟢 Transitioning to the new-generation thermal management system called PTM 2.0 along with the battery, the 4.9-meter electric crossover can operate efficiently in both high and low temperatures.
💨 The new 001 offers a single-motor option producing 310 kW (422 HP) and a dual-motor option capable of generating 560 kW (762 HP). Hence, it’s expected to have a starting price around $40,000.
🚗 Equipped with LiDAR sensor-based autonomous driving mode, a new infotainment system powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, and numerous interior design changes, the exact price of the 001 will be revealed upon its release on February 27th.

#Audi has introduced its first car developed on the all-electric PPE platform, the Q6 e-tron.
The Q6 e-tron, which is priced 10% cheaper than its sibling model, the Porsche Macan EV, developed on the same platform, stands out with both more compact and lightweight electric motors and a large prismatic cell-based massive battery.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

🟢Announcing that it will convert diesel mining trucks to electric in 2021 together with #ABB, #Hitachi shared that the first vehicle has been produced.
⛏️The giant truck started to be used in a copper-gold mine in Zambia. It climbs with an electrical connection that feeds the battery, similar to a trolleybus, while going to pick up load. When turning downhill while loaded, it recharges its battery thanks to regenerative braking.
🔋In this way, ABB and Hitachi completed the transformation with a smaller one instead of a megawatt-hour battery. They made this possible thanks to the regenerative braking ability of the huge electric motors seen in the prototype photo.
🔌Mining truck&#8217;s previously had a giant internal combustion engine with 16 cylinders and 2,534 horsepower. It will relatively reduce the impact of mining on the environment by ending diesel consumption and zeroing out emissions after the conversion to electric.

The company that sold the most electric cars in 2023 was Tesla with 1.8 million, followed by Chinese BYD with 1.57 million.
According to the EV-Volumes report, 9.5 million fully electric cars were sold last year. Reaching sales of 748,000 electric cars, SAIC surpassed Volkswagen by 5 thousand. The Geely-Volvo group sold 589,932 fully electric vehicles, narrowing the gap between it and the German giant in fourth place.

The Best Selling Electric Vehicles of 2023

After announcing its entry into the Netherlands in early July, BYD is up for more action in the European EV market. Chinese automaker is ready to start selling electric vehicles in Germany and Sweden, according to the press release published by BYD Europe.
Hedin Mobility will be BYD&#8217;s main distributor in Germany and Sweden. Gutenberg-based company has been operating in 8 different countries, serving customers with more than 230 dealership stores. The well-respected dealer will open BYD&#8217;s first showrooms in Sweden this October, followed by first deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2022. In Germany, Hedin will choose local dealers for BYD and orchestrate its operations.
BYD has been selling EVs in Norway since last year. It was the only country Chinese firm officially started operations, until now. The Warren Buffett-backed tech giant will expand further into the Old Continent. Germany, Netherlands, and Sweden will be the first move forward, and more countries should follow soon.

According to CleanTechnica, <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/2022-byd-han-ev" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BYD Han</a> is the first model to be sold in these European countries. But Chinese firm recently announced that it would enter the Japanese market with its three new models named <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/byd-seal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BYD Seal</a>, <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/2022-byd-yuan-plus" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yuan Plus</a>, and <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.licarco.com/byd-dolphin-knight-edition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dolphin</a>. This trio of EVs uses BYD&#8217;s brand-new vehicle platform, called e-platform 3.0, and also carries energy-dense &#8216;Blade&#8217; battery packs. BYD clearly indicated that these EVs would lead its global expansion in both European and Asian markets. BYD Han would be better off in mainland China, where it is among the most popular EVs after Teslas and dirt-cheap Wuling Hongguang MINIEV.
BYD also announced that it would attend Paris Auto Show 2022 this October. Europe&#8217;s highly-popular auto show will be held from October 17-23 this year. Chinese EV-maker will showcase its newest models and battery technology to potential customers and surely blink an eye to other automakers, who desperately trying to cope with Tesla and Chinese manufacturers in the electrification era.
