The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

⚡#BYD has revamped its popular electric sedan Han, which sold 220,000 units last year. The 2024 version of the car has been launched in China with a starting price of $25,000.
🟢The 5-meter sedan features a base model with a 150 kW motor, a 60.48 kWh LFP battery, and 110 kW DC charging support. All models come equipped with the new Level 2+ intelligent driving system, DiPilot 100, which has been in development for over 1,000 days. Additionally, the new generation intelligent suspension system, DiSus-C, has been integrated into the 2024 model to enhance Han&#8217;s comfort.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.
🟢 Transitioning to the new-generation thermal management system called PTM 2.0 along with the battery, the 4.9-meter electric crossover can operate efficiently in both high and low temperatures.
💨 The new 001 offers a single-motor option producing 310 kW (422 HP) and a dual-motor option capable of generating 560 kW (762 HP). Hence, it’s expected to have a starting price around $40,000.
🚗 Equipped with LiDAR sensor-based autonomous driving mode, a new infotainment system powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, and numerous interior design changes, the exact price of the 001 will be revealed upon its release on February 27th.

#Audi has introduced its first car developed on the all-electric PPE platform, the Q6 e-tron.
The Q6 e-tron, which is priced 10% cheaper than its sibling model, the Porsche Macan EV, developed on the same platform, stands out with both more compact and lightweight electric motors and a large prismatic cell-based massive battery.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

⚡Magnesium is 75% lighter than steel and approximately 33% lighter than aluminum,. It will soon begin to be used in automobile chassis production.
🟢Today, magnesium casting machines are generally used in the production of parts weighing a few kilograms. LK Machinery and iDRA have made significant technological developments in this field. Both announced that they can produce magnesium casting parts up to 20 kg with their new machine called &#8216;Giga Plast&#8217;, paving the way for its use in the automotive industry. The same two companies had previously developed #Tesla&#8217;s giant single-piece aluminum casting machines.
⚙️ These machines are first used to transform the structural elements of various electric vehicles. They are made possible by TPI technology, in which a type of semi-molten magnesium called &#8216;Thixomolding&#8217; is simultaneously heated and compressed and pressed into the casting chamber.
🏭 Apart from the Chinese LK Machinery and its Italian iDRA, some other companies are also working on magnesium casting machines. It is expected that this technology will start to find a place in electric car chassis manufacturing by 2025.
🚙Considering that Tesla&#8217;s single-piece aluminum chassis weighs 60-80 kg, it seems difficult for magnesium to replace giant chassis parts in the near future. However, the fact that magnesium casting technology can be integrated into existing Giga Presses shows that this may be possible with the development of 40, 60 kg systems.

When Elon Musk first unveiled Tesla&#8217;s sophisticated electric pickup truck Cybertruck back in 2019, the bulletproof glass breaking during a stunt was the highlight of the event. In a matter of hours, everyone on the internet was talking about Tesla and their instant failure to deliver a bulletproof vehicle. But is it really over? Or is the Cybertruck really bulletproof?
Tesla Cybertruck&#8217;s glass windows and stainless steel body are actually designed in a way that allows the vehicle to be bulletproof. The pickup truck&#8217;s body panels are made of a <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.tesmanian.com/blogs/tesmanian-blog/tesla-patents-ultra-hard-cold-worked-steel-alloy-for-cybertruck-production" target="_blank" rel="noopener">special ultra-hard cold-rolled steel alloy</a> that offers high rigidity. Cybertruck&#8217;s glass windows, which Elon Musk calls &#8216;Tesla Armor Glass&#8217;, are also strong enough to stop any 9mm rounds but most likely there won&#8217;t be any armor rating.
The information we heard over the years clearly shows that Tesla Cybertruck will be a hard-to-beat vehicle. It will definitely offer some serious protection, it might even be considered a bulletproof car. But Tesla&#8217;s focus will be on its practicality and simplicity. It&#8217;s a useful all-electric pickup truck that you can go to work, or go on a vacation. It&#8217;s not a boring pickup truck your uncle drives for the last couple of decades. Cybertruck will appeal to all kinds of customers. That&#8217;s what makes this truck special, not its somehow bulletproof body panels or unbreakable(!) glass windows.

<h3>What About The Cybertruck Exoskeleton?</h3>
As we already know, Tesla scrapped the idea of an exoskeleton body for the Cybertruck. Instead, Texas-based EV maker will use a body structure similiar to Model Y, which consists of huge single-piece aluminum castings that will function as the body of the vehicle and stainless steel panels will be installed over the body.
This body structure will definitely make Tesla&#8217;s job easier. Over the last couple of years, Tesla has familiarized itself with huge die-cast machines and it&#8217;s getting easier for Tesla to manufacture new vehicles with this same underpinnings. Tesla even ordered its famous supplier iDRA to build 9,000-tonne casting machinery for the Cybertruck production. Instead of engineering an exoskeleton body from stratch, EV maker chose an easier path to <a href="https://www.licarco.com/news/where-is-tesla-cybertruck-made-cybertruck-production-plant">Cybertruck&#8217;s production</a>.
