<h2>Overview</h2>
BMW i4 is German carmaker’s first electric sedan coming to the market in November 2021. Base version of the vehicle called i4 eDrive 40 has a 340 HP rear electric motor and 80.7 kWh battery pack. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.7 seconds. On a single charge i4 can travel up to 590 kilometers in the WLTP cycle.
There is also a more powerful variant that will be available alongside the standard i4 called BMW i4 M50. It is the first M Performance series electric vehicle producing 544 horsepower and 795 Nm torque, thanks to its all-wheel drive dual motor drivetrain. i4 M50 uses the same 80.7 kWh battery and offers 510 kilometers of range. Performance oriented four-door saloon can reach 0 to 100 km/s in 3.9 seconds. Top speed is 225 km/h. Both variants of the BMW i4 can be charged with 200 kW DC plugs. It will take approx. half an hour to charge up vehicles from 10 to 80 percent.
Pricing of the BMW i4 is yet to be revealed. According to the news outlets, i4 eDrive 40 will probably be around $50,000, i4 M50 on the other hand will be priced much higher.
<h2>Performance</h2>
BMW i4 eDrive 40 is a rear-wheel drive single motor electric saloon. It produces 340 HP, 430 Nm torque, and top speed is 190 km/h. 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. With this acceleration performance, eDrive 40 shows that it’s not an ordinary sedan.
The high-performance variant BMW i4 M50, however, is an all-wheel drive dual motor car. It has 544 horsepower, 795 Nm torque and electronically limited 225 km/h top speed. Acceleration performance is phenomenal, 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
Combined energy consumption is 16 kWh/100 km and 19 kWh/100 km respectively for the two i4 variants.
<h2>Design and Features</h2>
Futuristic design of the vehicle is based on the iVision Dynamics concept unveiled in 2017. In order to improve aerodynamics, BMW’s iconic kidney grille closed all together. Automaker made use of this area by implementing cameras and sensors needed for the driving assist technologies.
Interior is very similar to i4’s electric SUV sibling BMW iX. Cured gauge cluster and infotainment display surround the driver. 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 14.9-inch infotainment screen use the latest BMW operating system that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto wirelessly, hand gestures, voice control, digital assistant etc.
Sitting position is not too high, thanks to tightly fitted battery pack underneath. Thus, being close to road and feeling the drive will not be an issue in this electric vehicle.
<h2>Range and Charging</h2>
BMW i4 eDrive 40 and M50 both use the same 80.7 kWh battery pack. Electric sedans have a range of 590 km and 510 km, respectively. i4 does support 200 kW rate DC and 11 kW AC charging. With DC plugs, it can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 31 minutes, fully charging the vehicle with an AC unit will take 8.5 hours.

The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

The BYD Seal U Has Been Launched in China with a Price Starting at $18,040

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.
🟢 Transitioning to the new-generation thermal management system called PTM 2.0 along with the battery, the 4.9-meter electric crossover can operate efficiently in both high and low temperatures.
💨 The new 001 offers a single-motor option producing 310 kW (422 HP) and a dual-motor option capable of generating 560 kW (762 HP). Hence, it’s expected to have a starting price around $40,000.
🚗 Equipped with LiDAR sensor-based autonomous driving mode, a new infotainment system powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, and numerous interior design changes, the exact price of the 001 will be revealed upon its release on February 27th.

⚡#BYD has revamped its popular electric sedan Han, which sold 220,000 units last year. The 2024 version of the car has been launched in China with a starting price of $25,000.
🟢The 5-meter sedan features a base model with a 150 kW motor, a 60.48 kWh LFP battery, and 110 kW DC charging support. All models come equipped with the new Level 2+ intelligent driving system, DiPilot 100, which has been in development for over 1,000 days. Additionally, the new generation intelligent suspension system, DiSus-C, has been integrated into the 2024 model to enhance Han&#8217;s comfort.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

The feature practically consigns meter clusters to the past because it only covers the lowest third of the screen. In the design, the screen seems to display data on the speed, charge level, and range of the vehicle. We can view details about the currently playing media in the middle. A computer-desktop-like readout showing the date and time can be seen on the far right, in front of the passenger.

BMW&#8217;s goal with the updated iDrive system is clear: as part of the attempt to reimagine the brand&#8217;s products, they view the Neue Klasse cars as vast digital interfaces. A greater degree of human-car communication is implied by the integration with the BMW Cloud and the user&#8217;s digital environment, while the emphasis on a minimalist interior is characteristic of what successful companies like Tesla have advertised.

Even though it was unconventional, the BMW i Vision Dee concept offered an early look at the appearance of BMW electric vehicles in the future. The same design is now being presented in a &#8220;Neue&#8221; form at the IAA Mobility 2023 show event in Munich, with additional elements and features that will really go into production.
The BMW Vision Neue Klasse concept has a similar overall design as the previous i Vision Dee, but it is more substantial. The front of this car is highlighted by a slanted &#8220;shark nose&#8221; hood, two lit horizontal kidney grilles, which house slanted LED running lights at each corner, and a long bumper. Compared to the i Vision Dee, the Neue Klasse concept has a sportier appearance. New 21-inch wheels replace the neon green dinner plates while also paying homage to the traditional cross-spoke style featured on BMW racing vehicles. The kidney-grille and headlight combination on the front end is mimicked by the extended taillights, and BMW&#8217;s new minimalist emblem is printed onto the front and rear fenders; there isn&#8217;t a single metal badge to be spotted.
<h2>High Efficiency and Faster Charging</h2>
The sleekness of the design, which BMW calls &#8220;monolithic,&#8221; results in a 30 percent longer range and a 25 percent higher efficiency than any of the automaker&#8217;s current EVs. The Neue Klasse concept offers 20 percent higher density, 25 percent more efficiency, and 30 percent faster charging when combined with BMW&#8217;s sixth-generation eDrive technology.

Although specific range figures aren&#8217;t given, BMW previously indicated that a range of up to 621 miles (1,001 kilometers) is not out of the question. BMW&#8217;s facility in Debrecen, Hungary, which is now under development and claims to be fossil fuel-free, will produce the new eDrive technology.
The iDrive infotainment system from BMW is housed inside the Neue Klasse and is shown on a quirky touchscreen that resembles a parallelogram. In addition to continuing to provide existing features like the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant and multifunction steering wheel buttons, BMW is now adding &#8220;Panoramic Vision.&#8221;

The BMW Neue Klasse will start manufacturing in 2025 at BMW&#8217;s factory in Debrecen, Hungary, and the EV is scheduled to be in use by 2026. When the entire production version is released, information on the cost, operating range, and charging will be made available.

BMW M is better known for its performance sedans, such as the M3 and M5. However, the performance division has recently gone in many new ways. Additionally, the new 2023 XM integrates several of these new aspects in a single vehicle. This seems reasonable considering it&#8217;s the M&#8217;s new flagship.
As an M-badged SUV, the XM also debuts a new plug-in hybrid engine, the first hybrid to bear the M badge when the concept version of the XM debuted last year. It is set to be on sale in the United States in the first quarter of 2023.
<h2>BMW XM Has Much More Power than Existing Production of BMW</h2>
The XM&#8217;s powertrain comprises a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 coupled with an electric motor fitted into the eight-speed automated transmission. A 25.7-kWh battery pack allows for an estimated electric driving range of 30 kilometers. Total output is 644 horsepower &amp; 590 pound-feet of torque, with an even more powerful Label Red variant coming out later with a promised 735 hp and 735 pound-feet. This makes the XM a much more strong existing production BMW. It&#8217;ll require all of that power to maneuver around its 6062 pound/2.75 t bulk.

The external appearance seems to be more angular and commanding than that of many of BMW&#8217;s previous SUVs. Front split headlights, identical to those featured on the new X7, flank the huge kidney grilles. A bold emphasized character line rises down the side and kicks up at the rear doors as a homage to the legendary BMW Hofmeister kink.
BMW insignia are carved into each top corner of the back windshield, and the taillights wrap around the sides. The quad exhaust tips and diffuser features give the rear bumper a sporty appearance. 23-inch wheels are standard, but 22-inch are available as an alternative, and BMW claims that the lesser size saves weight.
<h2>Extras Will Add a Significant Cost to the Vehicle</h2>

The XM will enter into rivalry with high-end SUVs comparable to the Audi RS Q8 and Mercedes-AMG GLE63, as well as Aston Martin DBX and Lamborghini Urus. It will start at $159,995, but extras will add a significant amount, and the more powerful Label Red variant will cost more than $185,000. Whether you like it or not, this super-SUV is now the apex of the M portfolio, and it will be available in US showrooms early next year.

The 2023 BMW XM Plug-In Hybrid SUV has 644 Horsepower

Not one, but two new affordable BMW EVs set to make their appearance in the coming years. The German carmaker is hoping to repeat the astonishing global sales record of the <a href="https://www.licarco.com/bmw-i3-120-ah">BMW i3</a>. The entry-level BMW i1 is due in 2027 and the BMW i2 is due in 2028. These models  doesn&#8217;t seem quite close to the market, given that many automobile companies are launching their well-equipped electric vehicles every day. But they will undoubtedly be significant models for the company, which by that time will undoubtedly have a large number of next-gen EVs in its inventory.
<h2>Both Variants Will be Based on Neue Klasse Platform</h2>
Both of these variants lack rear-wheel drive, in contrast to the original i3. According to rumors, both will be based on the new Neue Klasse platform&#8217;s front-wheel drive variant. The same source also predicts the release of a redesigned iX1 in 2027, a dual-motor all-wheel drive variant might be available as well.
The 1 Series and Mini series use the same platform as the current iX1. But these new models will adopt BMW&#8217;s unique EV layout, and everything will change with the advent of Neue Klasse, designed specifically for the front, rear, and all-wheel drive vehicles. The electric car and perhaps SUV version of the Neue Klasse will appear in 2025.

<h2>Most BMW EVs are Based on ICE Vehicles: iX1, i3 Sedan, and i4</h2>
BMW currently sells a few electric vehicles, but most are based on ICE vehicles such as the <a href="https://www.licarco.com/bmw-ix1-xdrive30">iX1</a>, <a href="https://www.licarco.com/bmw-i3-sedan">i3 sedan</a>, and <a href="https://www.licarco.com/bmw-i4-edrive-40">i4</a>. That said, the iX&#8217;s platform is reportedly a hybrid in terms of the components used, and doesn&#8217;t quite reflect what the Neue Klasse platform would offer.
The body types of the i1 and i2 are yet be known. The BMW i Vision Circular concept, which resembles a future 1 series, was unveiled last year. It might be a very early i1 preview, but it&#8217;s still unlikely that the production model would seem as sophisticated as the concept.
