The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has opened orders for the Seal U model. For the 2024 model year, there is a significant reduction in prices, almost $3,000.
Having surpassed the 800,000 sales mark in three years, the Seal U will initially come to our country only with the plug-in hybrid version. This motor option stands out with a starting price of $18,000.

#Audi has introduced its first car developed on the all-electric PPE platform, the Q6 e-tron.
The Q6 e-tron, which is priced 10% cheaper than its sibling model, the Porsche Macan EV, developed on the same platform, stands out with both more compact and lightweight electric motors and a large prismatic cell-based massive battery.

Audi, using NCM811 cathode cells produced by Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) in Germany, states that the larger cell form facilitates battery production. Additionally, it emphasizes that the newly developed smart thermal management system enhances battery life by continuously conditioning the battery and reduces charging time.
Regarding the engine, the company claims a 50% increase in efficiency compared to the first-generation electric Audis and states that it can produce more power with smaller motors by increasing power density by 62%. It should be noted that the Q6 e-tron uses an asynchronous ASM motor at the front and a permanent magnet synchronous PSM motor at the rear, differentiating it from the electric #Macan.

⚡ Chinese ZEEKR极氪 announced a major update to its first car, the 001, by replacing over 2,000 components.
🔋 The 2024 Zeekr 001, available with 95 and 100 kWh battery options, now features an 800V architecture. This not only boosts charging speeds up to 350 kW but also significantly enhances the vehicle’s efficiency.
🟢 Transitioning to the new-generation thermal management system called PTM 2.0 along with the battery, the 4.9-meter electric crossover can operate efficiently in both high and low temperatures.
💨 The new 001 offers a single-motor option producing 310 kW (422 HP) and a dual-motor option capable of generating 560 kW (762 HP). Hence, it’s expected to have a starting price around $40,000.
🚗 Equipped with LiDAR sensor-based autonomous driving mode, a new infotainment system powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, and numerous interior design changes, the exact price of the 001 will be revealed upon its release on February 27th.

⚡#BYD has revamped its popular electric sedan Han, which sold 220,000 units last year. The 2024 version of the car has been launched in China with a starting price of $25,000.
🟢The 5-meter sedan features a base model with a 150 kW motor, a 60.48 kWh LFP battery, and 110 kW DC charging support. All models come equipped with the new Level 2+ intelligent driving system, DiPilot 100, which has been in development for over 1,000 days. Additionally, the new generation intelligent suspension system, DiSus-C, has been integrated into the 2024 model to enhance Han&#8217;s comfort.

🔋The 2024 BYD Han boasts a range of 506 km (CLTC), which extends up to 715 kilometers in the version with an 85.44 kWh battery. During today&#8217;s event, it was emphasized for the first time that the car features a silicon carbide chip inverter and an 800V architecture. However, the charging speed of the largest battery being limited to 155 kW indicates that the entire high-voltage system is not yet ready for 800V.
🚗In the performance version of the car, a dual-motor powertrain capable of producing 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque is used, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds.

🟢Announcing that it will convert diesel mining trucks to electric in 2021 together with #ABB, #Hitachi shared that the first vehicle has been produced.
⛏️The giant truck started to be used in a copper-gold mine in Zambia. It climbs with an electrical connection that feeds the battery, similar to a trolleybus, while going to pick up load. When turning downhill while loaded, it recharges its battery thanks to regenerative braking.
🔋In this way, ABB and Hitachi completed the transformation with a smaller one instead of a megawatt-hour battery. They made this possible thanks to the regenerative braking ability of the huge electric motors seen in the prototype photo.
🔌Mining truck&#8217;s previously had a giant internal combustion engine with 16 cylinders and 2,534 horsepower. It will relatively reduce the impact of mining on the environment by ending diesel consumption and zeroing out emissions after the conversion to electric.

Toyota received criticism for its advertisements a few years ago that referred to their electrically assisted vehicles as self-charging hybrids. The news is that a German bus will soon be refueling on a wireless ev charging highway in the city of Balingen. It is the newest step in turning that fantasy into a reality.
Even while the project is limited to a single bus, it is not difficult to see how the technology can eventually be used in vehicles and other places all over the world.
Governor of Michigan stated in December of last year that the state will investigate wireless in-road refueling on its roadways. If automobiles can charge while driving, their batteries may be smaller. It makes them lighter, more efficient, and much less expensive.

Similar to how inductive charging on cell phones functions, so does automotive technology. Magnetic coils in the ground transmit electricity to a coil on the automobile through the air. Car static charge stations have been available for a while. The fact remains that charging highways are more complex and are still in the planning stages.
<h2>Wireless EV Charging System</h2>
For the Balingen project, Israeli firm Electreon and German firm EnBW have collaborated to install 0.6 mile/1 km of Electric Road System (ERS) along a section of German highway, as well as two static charging stations at spots where the bus usually stops along its route. The Electreon will build charging infrastructure, which will get up to $3.2 million in funding.

At EnBW&#8217;s training facility in Karlsruhe, Germany, Electreon, and EnBW conducted a successful pilot study in the past. More recently, Eurovia and Electreon presented a proposal to electrify a section of the German highway in Bavaria.
While Stellantis tested a site modeled after a motorway in Italy to explore inductive charging, Sweden has its own wireless charging road project. Perhaps in ten years, the Mazda MX-30 with its meager 100 mile/160km range will be a design that was ahead of its time.

Electrify America will bring the fast-charging EV network to over 25 IKEA stores in 18 different states of the US. The number of fast chargers will be over 220 and have a capacity of up to 350kW. Electrify America is planning to install the first chargers by the end of the year and the remaining ones by the end of the next year.
Ikea USA CEO Javier Quiñones said that their collaboration with Electrify America will bring ultra-fast public chargers to their stores for the first time and will help them become circular and climate positive. Ikea plans to become fully electrified in its deliveries by 2025.
In the light of the electrification of its deliveries, Ikea is also partnering with Electrify America’s commercial division to plant another 225 individual charging at its several business sites. By doing so, Ikea wants to encourage its customers and employees to own electric vehicles. Previously, Blink Level 2 charging stations were installed at multiple IKEA stores as early as 2011.

The partnership is the latest one between a charging station network and a brick-and-mortar business. Before this, Volvo and ChargePoint announced that they will plant multiple charging stations at Starbucks locations in five stations and GM will build a coast-to-coast charging network at Pilot and Flying J truck stops. Also, in June, new guidelines by the Biden administration are stated to make EV infrastructure more convenient, affordable, and accessible for the public.
Electrify America is the charging subsidiary of Volkswagen Group and is the largest open DC fast charging network in the U.S., is investing more than $2 billion in Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) infrastructure, education and access.
